The Logging Truck

$2,029.00

Plein air painters typically work at the side of the road. When 40 tons of freshly-picked lumber is barreling down at you every few minutes, you learn to sidestep, fast.

This painting was inspired by Grant Wood’s enigmatic and beautiful Death on the Ridge Road. A strange choice, perhaps, and yet it’s all about chance, fortune, composition and the risks we choose to take.

I have never picked so many black flies out of a canvas as I did from this one. I like to imagine that future art historians will be able to tell just where and when it was painted by the fly DNA.
