Path to the Lake

This is a path to Damariscotta Lake from Rolling Acres Farms in Jefferson. Along the treeline, you can see an old cemetery. This was my friend Clif Travers’ obsession the month we lived together at the Joseph A. Fiore Center. We were two of five residents, but we were decades older than the others so mostly it was just the two of us. We spent the month perfecting the art of being comic curmudgeons.

Clif’s obsession eventually led to a book, The Stones of Riverton. I kicked around the small cemetery a bit, but mostly I was interested in the hayfields surrounding it. Underneath it all, I’m really just an old farmer.

This is a dramatic signature piece, loose-mounted in a streamlined narrow black frame for a three-dimensional effect. It would look great in a contemporary home with open sightlines.
